AWC Pilliga Tag-Along Tour

Exclusive opportunity to visit Pilliga feral predator-free safe haven
Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are inviting the public to join a self-drive tag-along tour at the Pilliga State Conservation Area on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
Visitors will have an exclusive opportunity to step inside the feral predator free fenced area and see the positive outcomes of this ground-breaking conservation program firsthand with a self-driving tag-along tour departing Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre at 8.15am (AEST).
The site in the Pilliga, near Narrabri is home to the threatened Bilby, Brush-tailed Bettong and Bridled Nailtail Wallaby.
The day tour will take visitors through part of the largest consolidated block of forest and woodland in western NSW where they will hear from AWC’s field ecologists and land managers about the reintroduction program and how the feral predator free area is helping prevent further extinctions. If they’re lucky, visitors may even catch a glimpse of a Bridled Nailtail Wallaby.
The full day event includes a tour of the Pilliga’s fenced area guided by the AWC Operations Manager, a walk through the threatened species breeding area and morning tea.
