Jewellery may be the oldest continuous form of art making in the world\, practiced in the majority of\nhuman cultures. Its appeal is enduring. Today\, jewellery is part of the world of contemporary art\, sustained by the same social settings and\nissues. With this view\, contemporary jewellery should be considered alongside other forms of art as a crucial part of our cultural landscape. Contemporary jewellery in Australia is a flourishing field\, providing a marvellous opportunity for thinking through current culture. \nJulie Ewington is a nationally and internationally recognised authority on contemporary Australian art across a wide range of media\,\nand on contemporary art in Southeast Asia. She is currently working in Sydney as independent writer and curator. Over four decades Julie has contributed to Australian cultural life as a writer\, curator and broadcaster. Since 1984 she has been an occasional broadcaster with ABC Radio National\, and she delivers lectures\, conference papers and contributes to panel discussions. \n  \nADFAS Narrabri
