DESCRIPTION:Spring is here\, and the wildflowers are in full bloom! \nLet’s take advantage of the short 2-3 week window we have to experience the beauty of the Sculptures in the Scrub while the flowers are at their peak. \nBring your picnic gear\, food to share\, drinks\, maybe some art or painting if you\’d like to do any there\, and walking shoes for those who want to do the Sculptures in the Scrub walk. \nFor those who\’d like to stay the night\, you can camp the night before and/or after at the campsite there\, or if you would like proper accommodation\, organisers highly recommend Barkala Farmstay. There is a large house that sleeps 14-people\, which could be fun for a big group\, and they have a German restaurant on site serving breakfast\, lunch and dinner. \nEveryone is welcome\, including families\, friends\, and kids. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with new and old friends. \nHow to get there:\nSculptures in the Scrub Picnic Area and Campground is located around a 2.5 hour drive from Dubbo. Carpooling is encouraged! Let organisers know if you need a ride or can offer one.

SUMMARY:Australia Telescope Compact Array – Night Photography Sessions
DESCRIPTION:We understand that people are interested in coming to site to photograph the telescope and the night sky. We remind the public though that the site shuts to the public at 5pm daily\, and that staying overnight is strictly prohibited. This is primarily for the safety of the public and the equipment on site. \nWe do however host photographers in the evening roughly once per month while the Milky Way is visible and the Moon does not wash out the stars. The schedule of nights in 2024 is shown below. \nSaturday May 4 5:00pm – 11:00pm\nSaturday June 1 4:30pm – 11:00pm\nSaturday July 6 5:00pm – 11:00pm\nSaturday August 3 5:00pm- 11:00pm\nSaturday August 31 5:00pm – 11:00pm\nSaturday September 28 5:00pm – 11:00pm \nThese events are free of charge\, but bookings are essential and you must indicate your attendance via email prior to the evening so we can make appropriate preparations. \nDuring these events\, you will be able to cross the fence and get better vantage points\, under staff supervision.
