SUMMARY:Australia Telescope Compact Array – Night Photography Sessions
DESCRIPTION:Night Photography\nWe understand that people are interested in coming to the site to photograph the telescopes and the night sky. We remind the public though that the site shuts to the public at 5pm daily\, and that staying overnight is strictly prohibited. This is primarily for the safety of the public and the equipment on site. \nCSIRO do however host photographers in the evening roughly once per month while the Milky Way is visible and the Moon does not wash out the stars. \nThese events are free of charge\, but bookings are essential and you must indicate your attendance via email prior to the evening so we can make appropriate preparations. During these events\, you will be able to cross the fence and get better vantage points\, under staff supervision. \nPlease email narrabri@csiro.au to book your place. \nTo view the schedule of nights in 2023 please visit https://www.narrabri.atnf.csiro.au/public/ \nWe are currently unable to make special arrangements for groups at any other time.

Listen out for beautiful bird songs and learn the skills of bird watching. Your guide will help you track down areas filled with wildflowers and point out where to look for evidence of animal tracks. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for any animals among the scrub. \nIt’s a good idea to wear comfortable\, enclosed shoes and all-weather clothing. DESCRIPTION:Exclusive opportunity to visit Pilliga feral predator-free safe haven \nAustralian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are inviting the public to join a self-drive tag-along tour at the Pilliga State Conservation Area on Thursday\, April 20\, 2023. \nVisitors will have an exclusive opportunity to step inside the feral predator free fenced area and see the positive outcomes of this ground-breaking conservation program firsthand with a self-driving tag-along tour departing Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre at 8.15am (AEST). \nThe site in the Pilliga\, near Narrabri is home to the threatened Bilby\, Brush-tailed Bettong and Bridled Nailtail Wallaby. \nThe day tour will take visitors through part of the largest consolidated block of forest and woodland in western NSW where they will hear from AWC’s field ecologists and land managers about the reintroduction program and how the feral predator free area is helping prevent further extinctions. If they’re lucky\, visitors may even catch a glimpse of a Bridled Nailtail Wallaby. \nThe full day event includes a tour of the Pilliga’s fenced area guided by the AWC Operations Manager\, a walk through the threatened species breeding area and morning tea. \n08.15am – 03.45pm \n$25 vehicle pass – limited to 9 x vehicles ONLY \nPlease note: Tickets are limited to 4WD vehicle numbers\, and carpooling is encouraged. \nFor all tour enquiries\, please email: events@australianwildlife.org
